Sunday, September 21
We’ll make the most of Camp Seton’s 250 acres, focusing on fun, outdoor skills, and reinforcing the patrol method. Scouts will prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner as patrols, with youth leaders guiding the way.
That evening, we’ll wrap up with a special Scout Night at the Westchester Soccer Club, a new professional USL team. The stadium is just 30 minutes from camp, and the match will end before 8:30 PM. The package includes:
A new destination for Troop 23, offering a picturesque and well-equipped camp with lots of program areas for Scout activities and games.
Camp Seton, officially known as the Ernest Thompson Seton Scout Reservation, opened in 1960 on 249 acres donated to the Greenwich Council. Named after Ernest Thompson Seton, co-founder of the Boy Scouts of America and the first president of the Greenwich Council, the camp has been a central hub for local scouting for over half a century.
The property features scenic hiking trails, two lakes, a pool, a 40-foot climbing tower, cabins, and multiple lean-tos. Camp Seton hosts year-round programs including Cuboree, Camporees, Klondike Derby, and seasonal scout camps. Its combination of natural beauty and scouting heritage makes it a cherished destination for new and returning scouts alike.
Conveniently located on our route home, this adds a unique sports-themed twist to the trip and offers a chance for Troop camaraderie in the stands!
Westchester Soccer Club is a brand-new professional team competing in the USL League One, officially launching in 2025. The team plays its home matches at Memorial Field in Mount Vernon, a stadium originally built in 1931 and fully renovated in 2022, now featuring upgraded seating, locker rooms, lighting, and fan amenities.
The stadium holds approximately 3,900 fans and serves as a multipurpose community venue. With its rich history and modern upgrades, it’s a fitting stage for Westchester SC’s debut season and a unique experience for scouts to witness professional soccer up close.
