Troop

You do not need to have been a Cub Scout to join.

To join Troop 23, a youth must be 11 years old, or have completed the fifth grade or earned the Arrow of Light Award and be at least 10 years old but not yet 18.

You will need to fill out a registration form and pay the annual troop fee, which covers membership, insurance, awards, troop materials, and activities.

The Troop operates using the patrol method. Based on the makeup of patrols, new scouts are placed in an existing or new group.

Have questions before signing up?  We recommend parents and child/children visit our troop to see if it’s a good fit — visitors are always welcome. The Troop meets every Monday, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., September through June, at Our Lady of Angels Church in Bay Ridge; what an evening actually looks like is set out in our meeting procedures. Crossing Over from Cub Scouts

If your child is a Webelos or Arrow of Light Scout, the step up to a troop is your family's choice. Families from Pack 23 will find much of it already familiar: the same home at Our Lady of Angels, the same Monday evenings, and the troop that runs the Pack's Pinewood Derby. Families from other packs are just as welcome. The best way to decide is to see it for yourselves, so come to one of the Monday troop meetings described above and bring your scout.

Pack

If your child is in elementary school (Grades K-5) they may join our Pack 23, which meets at Our Lady of Angels on Monday evenings as well.
