Scout Ryan Macias is leading an Eagle Scout Service Project focused on restoring and repainting the historic perimeter fence of Our Lady of Angels (OLA) parish in Bay Ridge. This hands-on community effort will take place over three days, bringing together adult volunteers, Scouts, families, and friends to make a lasting impact on the parish grounds.
This project not only improves the safety and appearance of the OLA property but also deepens Troop 23’s long-standing relationship with the parish that has supported us for generations.
🛠️ Project Overview
The work will include:
Sanding and scraping old paint and rust
Painting fence sections with new primer and top coat
Clearing trash and debris
Transporting and organizing supplies
Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
📅 Schedule & Tasks
Friday, October 3 — Adult Volunteers Only 🕔 5:00 PM – until sunset 📍 Meet at the OLA fence line (corner of 74th Street & 4th Avenue) Tasks:
Scraping, sanding, and prepping fence for painting
Tools and eye protection provided
Wear work clothes
Saturday, October 4 — All Scouts, Families & Supporters 🕗 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM 📍 Same meeting point Tasks:
Team assignments and safety overview
Fence painting
Setup and general support
Sunday, October 5 — All Scouts, Families & Supporters 🕘 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM 📍 Same location Tasks:
Continued painting and final cleanup
Wrap-up and supply organization
☔ Sunday also serves as a rain date if Saturday is affected by weather.
