Eagle Scout Project: Ryan — OLA Fence Restoration

Ryan’s Eagle Scout Service Project focuses on restoring and refreshing the perimeter fence of Our Lady of Angels (OLA) parish in Bay Ridge. This visible improvement will support the parish’s historic presence in the community and provide a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for all.

The project will involve:

• Sanding and scraping old paint and rust from metal fence sections
• Applying new paint for a clean, restored look
• Clearing trash and debris
• Transporting and organizing supplies

This is a service opportunity open to all Scouts, parents, and adult volunteers — no special skills required! Whether you can help scrape, paint, or just lend a hand with setup and clean-up, you’ll be making a real difference.

Saturday, October 4

• Setup and Orientation
  • Gather at the OLA fence line for team assignments and safety overview
  • Tools and safety gear will be distributed
• Work Rotation Begins
  • Fence scraping and cleaning
  • Priming and painting where needed
  • Carrying supplies and trash bags
  • General site support
• Food & Breaks
  • Breakfast and lunch provided on-site for all volunteers

Sunday, October 5 (Rain Date)

• Continuation or completion of work, if weather disrupts Saturday

Provided or needed on-site:

• Work gloves, scrapers, brushes, paint rollers
• Paint and primer
• Trash bags, buckets
• Rags or cloths
• Safety tape/cones to section off areas
• First Aid kit on site

🧢 What to Wear & Bring

• Class B uniform or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
• Refillable water bottle
• A helpful attitude and team spirit
