Troop 23 marches with pride and purpose in the 159th Annual Kings County Memorial Day Parade β the longest continually running Memorial Day parade in the United States, stepping off in Bay Ridge since 1867.
This is not just another event on the calendar. Memorial Day is a federal holiday with deep meaning, honoring the U.S. service members who gave their lives in the line of duty. Our participation reflects respect, gratitude, and duty β and we expect every Scout in the Troop to be there in full force.

Step-off location: 76th Street & 3rd Avenue, Bay Ridge
Parade begins: 11:00 am sharp

We assemble at the corner of 3rd Avenue and 76th Street in Bay Ridge. Look for the Troop 23 colors and the Scoutmaster at the formation area β be in position no later than 10:30 am so we step off with the column at 11:00 am sharp.
The route runs south down 3rd Avenue through Bay Ridge and ends with the memorial ceremony at John Paul Jones / Cannonball Park (101st Street & 4th Avenue / Shore Road). Families and friends are warmly invited to line the route and to join us at the closing ceremony.
A Memorial Day parade is an annual tradition in cities across the nation to honor fallen war veterans. The tradition was started on May 30, 1868, and has been observed every year since. The Kings County Memorial Day Parade in Bay Ridge dates back to 1867 β predating the national holiday itself β and is considered the oldest continually running Memorial Day parade in the United States.
For more information, visit the official Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade website. You can also see how the Troop participated in last year's parade.
