🗽 Join Us for a NYC Tradition of Service

This is a fantastic chance to kick off the season by giving back and being part of an iconic New York City tradition. Troop 23 has a proud history of strong participation — let’s keep that going this year!

This is not just for Scouts — parents, siblings, and friends are welcome and encouraged to join. It’s a fun, fast-paced way to rack up service hours and be part of something big.

👕 What to Wear

NYRR will provide their customary ponchos. There's no need to wear Class A or B uniforms, but we strongly encourage you to wear your Troop 23 baseball cap or other Troop gear to represent us well.
 

✅ How to Register

Please register as soon as possible so NYRR can plan staffing and supplies accordingly. Spots are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

• The parent has to register a youth under the age of 18. New Parents and Scouts will need to register via a new profile. Create a profile and add their child to that profile.

You’ll be helping with water and Gatorade distribution, supporting thousands of runners, and soaking in the energy of the city. Yes, you can drink as much Gatorade as you want — and who knows, maybe we’ll score another awesome NYRR beanie for the collection!

Fluid Station Mile 3A

Prepare For Race Day

• Dress for the weather. 
• Wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing throughout the event.
• Have fun and take breaks as needed.
• To ensure a safe and fun event, please review NYRR Volunteer Guidelines.
• Please do not bring a bag with you. Waist packs and fanny packs are ok, but all other bags are required to be checked.
• Please do not bring your children with you unless they are registered as volunteers.
• Pets are not permitted.

About New York City Marathon

The TCS New York City Marathon course runs 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of NYC. 

Some highlights from the Official Course:

• Mile markers are posted at every mile, and kilometer signs are posted every 5 kilometers.
• Purified water will be available at official fluid stations every mile from mile 3 to mile 25 except at miles 5, 7, and 9. Flow Alkaline Spring Water will not be distributed.
• Gatorade® will be available at official fluid stations every mile from mile 3 to mile 25, except at miles 5, 7, and 9.
• Bananas will be available at miles 21 and 23.
