Kick off 2026 the right way — on foot, with friends, and through the most iconic streets in the world!

Troop 23 proudly presents our Start of the Year City Hike, inspired by the stunning success of our last winter city hike on January 2, 2023. That hike became legendary — scouts wandered through dazzling post-New Year Manhattan, sampling mouthwatering street food and deli classics, and soaking up the sights, sounds, and spirit of the city.

Let’s do it again. Even bigger. Even better.

🚶‍♂️ What to Expect

• 🎉 Manhattan’s magical energy just weeks after the New Year
• 🍕 Local food stops — think bagels, dumplings, pizza, and more
• 📸 Photo ops galore with NYC’s winter streets and landmarks
• 🫂 Flexible participation — join us for a block or for the whole trek
• 🌇 Sunset views (if you last till dusk!)
• 🎒 Good company, lots of laughs, and great memories to start the year

📍 How It Works

This is a “choose-your-own-adventure” style hike. We’ll publish the core route and timing in advance. Scouts and families can:

• Walk the entire route with the Troop core group
• Meet us at specific waypoints to hike a segment
• Peel off early if needed — it’s flexible, urban, and fun

We encourage families, siblings, and alumni to join us — it’s a perfect introduction to the Scouting spirit for the New Year.
