Troop 23 is proud to join this year's National Night Out Against Crime, a nationwide community-building initiative that brings together neighbors, the NYPD, local officials, and community groups to foster public safety and camaraderie. This event focuses on strengthening partnerships between law enforcement and residents through positive, shared experiences, mirroring our Troop’s values.
During National Night Out, the evening will feature BBQ, bounce houses, face-painting, games, and interactive exhibits. Scouts will staff two recruiting tables: one for Troop 23 and one for Pack 23, distributing flyers and brochures that highlight trips, activities, summer campouts, and opportunities within our scouting program.
In front of the tables, we’ll build a mini camp display complete with a pitched tent and simulated campfire to showcase an authentic Troop 23 scout setup, designed to engage kids and families and offer a hands-on glimpse into Scouting.
This is Troop 23's second year at National Night Out. Our goal is to connect with the neighborhood, shine a light on the benefits of scouting, and encourage new youth and families to join. By setting up a mini‑camp and being present in this community space, we make scouting approachable and exciting.
We’ll distribute care packages at the tables: snacks (gummy bears), bottled water, juice boxes in zip‑lock bags. Each item will be labeled with Troop 23 contact info and branding to encourage follow‑up.
The event will take place at Shore Road Park, located at Shore Road and 79th Street, away from the 68th Precinct's main office. This beautiful park offers a spacious and scenic environment, perfect for community gatherings like National Night Out.
While the 68th Precinct serves our local area and plays a crucial role in maintaining safety, this event is set in a relaxed outdoor location, providing a different atmosphere from the precinct itself.
