Location: Greenwood Cemetery (5th Ave and 25th St)
Each year, Troop 23 continues a proud tradition of honoring the brave U.S. veterans laid to rest at Green-Wood Cemetery by placing American flags at their graves—one week before Memorial Day. This early effort ensures we beat the larger crowds and maximize the impact of our quiet, respectful tribute.
This meaningful act of service allows Scouts and families to reflect on the true purpose of Memorial Day while giving back to our community. It’s one of the most direct and visible ways we show appreciation for those who gave their lives in service to our country.
💬 What to Expect
Please come dressed in Class B uniform (Troop shirt and green pants). Be prepared for the weather—one year we braved pouring rain, and another year we faced intense heat. Bring rain gear and water, and wear waterproof footwear, as the grass may still be wet from morning dew.
Whether you can stay for 30 minutes or a couple of hours, all are welcome to participate. This is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate Scout values and earn service hours while making a difference that will be noticed and appreciated.
Let’s continue showing our respect and gratitude in a visible and meaningful way.
