Each year, Troop 23 kicks off the new season with a winter weekend of fun, friendship, and frosty adventures. This year's destination? We're heading back to the Hearst Cabin at Ten Mile River Scout Reservation — a warm, welcoming, and snow-covered favorite from years past.

While the exact schedule are still being finalized, one thing’s certain: We’re planning a blast.

While the detailed activity plan is still taking shape, you can expect all the winter magic you’ve come to love from Troop 23: from snow tubing, skiing and hiking to cabin games and creative patrol challenges.

We’ll share the full itinerary as soon as it’s ready — but rest assured, this trip will be packed with fun, food, snow, and unforgettable moments.

🎿 What’s In the Works?

This isn’t just another cabin overnight. It’s a celebration of winter — Troop 23 style:

• 🛷 Snow Tubing & Skiing: Troop favorites — fast, fun, and freezing!
• 🍕 Pizza-Making Contest: Unleash your inner chef. Which patrol can make the best pie?
• 🚶 Winter Hikes: Crisp trails, snow-covered pines, and fresh air — nothing better.
• 🎲 Indoor Games & Patrol Challenges: Warm up inside with friendly (but competitive!) activities.
• 🔥 Cabin Campfire & Reflection: With stories, songs, and a few surprises.

(And yes — snow is welcome. Let’s hope for the magic of a fresh snowfall, just like last year.)

🧥 Gear Up!

All scouts will receive a packing list once registration opens, but expect to bring:

• Warm layers, gloves, and hats
• Sleeping bag (zero-degree or better if possible)
• Waterproof boots
• Class A & Class B uniforms
• Snow gear for tubing and hikes
• Patrol spirit and good vibes

What to pack

• ⧠ Ten Essentials as always, excluding a tent
• ⧠ Backpack as always
• ⧠ Class B (as well as Class A for travel)
• ⧠ Winter Boots for hiking and snow tubing
• ⧠ A second pair of shoes in case the first one gets wet
• ⧠ Warm clothes, a hat, gloves, and winter boots for snow tubing
• ⧠ Hydration - Refillable water bottle 
• ⧠ Food will be made by the adults
• ⧠ Snacks 
• ⧠ A notebook and pencil to record anything needed for requirements if you wish to do any
• ⧠ Executed Troop permission from ScoutBook  (if not submitted already)
• ⧠ Payment of $TBD (if not paid already)
• ⧠ Wavier for the Snow Tubing
• ⧠ Whatever else you want, this is a fun trip after all (Do inform the adults if you plan to bring something of significant size though)
