Christmas Community Service to Our Lady of Angels Church

Location: Our Lady of Angels

Our Lady of Angels has been the troop's home since 1946, and twice a year the parish asks Troop 23 to help get the church ready: before Easter and before Christmas. In December it is one evening of real work, and most of it is poinsettias.

Scouts and families are both welcome, brothers and sisters and parents too, and service hours are recorded for every Scout who takes part. The 2025 evening is on the site.

What We'll Do

• Unpack the poinsettias and carry them into the church
• Set them out in rows along the altar rail, around the altar and at the statues and side chapels
• Lay out the red and white plants on the floor in front of the altar
• Unpack the storage boxes and set up the ornaments and greenery
• Water every plant

With enough hands it takes about two hours. If you cannot be there at the start, come when you can: the parish has said that whatever time Scouts can arrive is fine.
