The Shore Parkway Greenway is the path for walking, running and biking along the Bay Ridge waterfront. It begins at the American Veterans Memorial Pier at the foot of Bay Ridge Avenue and runs four and a half miles beside the Belt Parkway to Bensonhurst Park, with the harbor on one side and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge ahead. NYC Parks runs it as part of Shore Park and Parkway, the 58-acre city park along Shore Road.
For Troop 23 the greenway is the stretch where Jalen built his Eagle Scout project in May 2026, starting right at the pier. The map above marks the path a short walk south of the pier, inside that stretch.
On May 16, 2026, Jalen led a crew of volunteers along the greenway south of the pier, in partnership with NYC Parks. They cleared the weeds that had grown over the edge of the path, then sanded and repainted its benches and trash cans. The project page has the details.
It was not the troop's first day on this shore. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 18, 2021, the troop turned out for a cleanup of the shore path.

The greenway starts at the western end of Bay Ridge Avenue (69th Street), where Shore Road meets the water, beside the 69th Street Pier. From the R train at Bay Ridge Avenue it is about four fifths of a mile on foot, under 20 minutes. It is a shared path, busy with cyclists and runners all day, so a group working along it keeps to the edge.
Across the Belt Parkway, along Shore Road, are Shore Road Park and the Narrows Botanical Gardens, and the page on NYC Parks in Bay Ridge has the rest. The greenway is run by NYC Parks as part of Shore Park and Parkway: nycgovparks.org. Troop 23 is a Scouts BSA troop in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and every family starts the same way: come to a Monday meeting.
