Shore Road Park is the long strip of lawns, paths, ball fields, courts and playgrounds between Shore Road and the Belt Parkway in Bay Ridge, with the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge to the south. The city acquired the land in parcels starting in 1897, and most of the park was finished in 1942 by the Works Progress Administration, together with the Belt Parkway, which Robert Moses meant as "a continuous park system, not merely an automobile artery." The bridge in its view has become a home for peregrine falcons.
NYC Parks runs it as part of Shore Park and Parkway, the 58-acre park that also takes in the Narrows Botanical Gardens and the Shore Parkway Greenway along the water. For Troop 23 it is the stretch at 79th Street. The map above marks the park entrance there, on Shore Road.
Ty became an Eagle Scout in 2026. The troop's other projects in Bay Ridge's city parks are on the NYC Parks in Bay Ridge page.

The entrance the troop uses is on Shore Road at 79th Street. From the R train at 77th Street it is about four fifths of a mile on foot, under 20 minutes.
The park is a little under a mile from Our Lady of Angels, the troop's home. It is run by NYC Parks as part of Shore Park and Parkway: nycgovparks.org. Troop 23 is a Scouts BSA troop in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, and every family starts the same way: come to a Monday meeting.
